2015 "Night Children" Pinot Noir SOLD OUT

Russian River Valley
96pts Jeb Dunnuck Regional Report "California: Exuberant, Powerful 2015's"  It's 2am in the dead of night. Shadowy figures and hooded beings emerge. Strange lights pierce the blackness. Cult ritual? Nah, that's just our crew getting ready for night harvest. Not the most convenient time to set your alarm, but night temperatures keeps grape clusters cool, acids bright, and sugars low. Exactly what we want from our sleeping "night children." The wine was built around our best, new tight grained Troncais french barrels. These barrels originate from forests north of Moulins in central France and are nicknamed "Magic Casks."  Wood staves are split by hand and air dried for 52 months. It shows dark, intense mountain fruit character. This Pinot has supple tannins, gripping textures and a beautiful perfumed nose of macerated dark ripe cherries. Hints of star anise and cassis grow giving the wine great dimension. Wake up your inner child, it's play time.
