2017 "Skeleton's Slide" Pinot Noir

Sta. Rita Hills "Three Barrel Select"
This wine grew up amongst the dead. Specifically diatomaceous earth containing fossilized skeletons on a steep block in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA. This extreme site proves weird things happen when no one is looking. In this case, amazing Pinot Noir grapevines struggling for survival on 30º slopes. This cool weather site allows for three weeks of additional hang time. High porosity soils creates complexity, concentration and staggering minerality in the berry. Seek out floral hibiscus notes with crushed boysenberry, rose pedal and toasted cinnamon. It's enough to wake the departed- sip quietly.
